• A programme of the CPA under the theme African Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (ASTII) has two interrelated projects:

January 2011, NEPAD OST and AUC-HRST convened a brainstorming workshop on the Observatory for STI. The workshop was held in Malabo and supported financially by NEPAD and the Host country. An output of the workshop was a draft statute document.

June 2011, Atthe AU Summit held in Malabo, both the Chairpersons of the African Union, and of the Africa Union Commission laid the foundation stone for the Headquarters premises for AOSTI.

December 2011, a workshop of STI experts met in Malabo and brainstormed on AOSTI Business/Work Planning. Output of the workshop: work plan for AOSTI start-up activities for implementation from 2012 onward.
