ScienceForumAs part of the implementation of its plan of action for the year 2016, the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) has requested the expertise of the African Observatory for Science Technology and Innovation (AOSTI) to facilitate and lead a regional forum on Science Diplomacy held in Dakaron 24-26 April 2016. Fifteen (15) experts in science and international relations from five West African countries (Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali and Senegal) attended the forum.

The main objective of this forum was to promote international scientific cooperation and the use of science for strengthening the relations between countries. The forum has given the opportunity to the participants to have a better understanding of the role of science diplomacy in bringing together countries and in solving scientific and global issues. The forum has recommended AOSTI to continue supporting African countries through advocacy and capacity building at national and regional level for a better appropriation of Science Diplomacy concepts and its use as one component of the integration of the African Union.
